FETIDUS: The Damned Heir – Episode 1

by James Durham on October 31, 2008

Welcome to the world of FETIDUS! Today, October 31, 2008, marks the launch of FETIDUS: The Damned Heir with the release of Episode 1! Come inside, stay for a while, venture in its dark corridors, and meet Art Blanchard, of the DC office of The Foundation for the Ethical Treatment of the Innocently Damned, Undead and Supernatural. This is the beginning of his new twisted case — a mystery that takes him deep into the science-fiction, post-apocalyptic, politically-charged and grim world of Washington, DC, circa 2034, filled with noir-humor, suspense and horror. And did I mention zombies, vampires, and other shadowy undead?

I hope you enjoy the journey in the months to come, and tremble with anticipation with the release of each episode. It has been a thrilling experience to create FETIDUS, and I get the bone-chilling sense that it will be even more thrilling to share it. Please subscribe to the site, visit frequently (if you dare!) to get new episodes, and feel free to share FETIDUS far and wide if you enjoy it! After all, FETIDUS is about making the world a better place, isn’t it? Well, you’ll see.

I’ve been waiting for a full episode since you first posted your promos.
Great work, but be careful, if you stop podcasting I’ll send my zombie minions after you :-)

Loved Art Blanchard! What a dark and great sense of humor. I want to hear more. The music is fabulous and combined with the story, it pulls you into the dark and filthy world of the undead! Brilliant James!

Excellent James!! I had already read the transcript, but the music, voice acting, everything added tremendously to the ambiance. Tremendously enjoyable, more please.

Thanks, guys! I’m thrilled you enjoyed episode 1. Much, much more to come. The mystery deepens, and I hope you enjoy the upcoming episodes… you’ll get a little more insight into Art Blanchard in the next one too, a fragment of his story that I can’t wait to share… but I must stop, no spoilers! The next episode will be posted in a couple of days. Take care, James

Is it because werewolves love cheese that they transform when there’s a full moon?

Fetid U.S.? How did you think of the name?

James Durham April 27, 2009 at 4:14 pm

Good question! :) Well, there are several primary and secondary (some of them festering, oozing) reasons why I came up with the name FETIDUS, and for now I’ll leave any subtleties of meanings up to your clearly wily imagination. :) I will say, however, that the Latin definition of “fetidus” (or “foetidus” as some people insist on spelling it) means “foul-smelling,” “having a bad smell” or “stinking.”
